lina

The new nautical pole in Sète, situated at the end of the Saint Louis mole, serves as a hub for local nautical associations and companies. Designed by NBJ architectes, the building boasts simple and durable concrete forms, reflecting a commitment to longevity and sustainability.

Blending with the Landscape

Located in the iconic port of Sète, the nautical pole seamlessly integrates into its surroundings while offering panoramic views of the sea. It accommodates various activities and functions for the Société Nautique de Sète (SNS) and the SNSM, with office and social spaces situated on the upper floor. The design aims to blend into the landscape while showcasing its beauty.

Functional Design

The program of the nautical pole caters to the needs of local nautical associations, providing space for events such as regattas. The reception area opens onto a spacious terrace, offering visitors an exceptional view of the sea. By grouping nautical activities and social spaces, the building fosters a sense of community among its users.

Materiality and Sustainability

The choice of concrete as the primary material reflects the building’s proximity to the sea and the need for durability and minimal maintenance. The simple and sober architectural forms contribute to its timeless appeal. Moreover, the project demonstrates a commitment to sustainability through the reuse of local eco-waste, specifically oyster shells, in collaboration with Colas. The innovative flooring product, Colstab Ostréa, embodies this eco-friendly approach, utilizing oyster shell waste from shellfish farming activities in the Thau Basin.

Conclusion: A Symbol of Collaboration and Sustainability

The nautical pole in Sète stands as a testament to collaboration between architecture, landscape, and sustainability. By integrating functional design with eco-friendly materials and practices, the project not only serves its intended purpose but also contributes to the preservation of the local environment. As a symbol of tradition and innovation, the nautical pole embodies the spirit of Sète’s maritime heritage.
