Located within a highly populated residential area and surrounded by shopping, business, and entertainment hubs, the site presented an opportunity to activate an underutilized gap in the urban fabric, creating a vibrant new meeting spot for locals and visitors alike.
Courtyard-Inspired Design
Drawing inspiration from Prague’s architectural heritage, Manifesto Market Andel embraces the courtyard typology prevalent in the city’s urban fabric. The market’s design features a series of courtyards, each offering unique experiences through carefully curated elements such as furniture, lighting, and greenery. By completing the existing building line and creating a public space between the market and the streets, the design seamlessly integrates with its surroundings while engaging passers-by.
Reversible Design Philosophy
A cornerstone of Manifesto Market Andel’s design philosophy is reversibility and reuse. Modular units, initially designed for the former Manifesto Market in Smichov, were repurposed to fit the new location’s needs. An elevated wooden platform provides barrier-free access to the market’s units while concealing temporary technical infrastructure underneath. The juxtaposition of old and new components beneath a striking blue scaffolding creates a visually dynamic space.
