Shire Space Research, an architectural firm based in Hang Zhou Shi, China, undertook the task of designing a dedicated and unique studio office for Pinchu, a brand looking to convey a distinct work attitude while breaking away from traditional office space designs. Led by lead architect Cheng Gao, the project aimed to create a relaxed working environment that fosters communication and inspiration among users while effectively integrating display space and office functionalities.

Design Concept and Challenge

The primary challenge faced by Shire Space Research was to integrate display space and office functions within the limited physical scale of the 180 m² space effectively. The goal was to meet diverse spatial usage needs and scenarios under different functions while promoting observation and perception through logical thinking.

Innovative Spatial Integration

To maximize space utilization, the design team decided to integrate the display format of wood products with spatial usage functions in a restrained yet effective manner. This approach allowed for a seamless blend of display functions within the overall office layout, providing ample space for users.

Brand Identity Through Material Expression

Wood was predominantly used throughout the space to align with brand management objectives and convey a sense of professionalism. Different functional elements were constructed using wood, showcasing the brand’s attributes while maintaining a cohesive aesthetic.

Functional Zones and Flexibility

The common space area features a versatile island table and model cabinet arrangement, fulfilling internal conference needs while accommodating customer sample selection requirements. An embedded lighting tool slot on the island platform enhances convenience, combining model display functionality with practicality.

Office Area Design and Privacy

In the office area, a wooden framework was employed to express brand management attributes while a movable partition system ensured flexibility in meeting various privacy needs. This setup facilitates seamless transitions between internal office tasks and meeting scenarios.

Water Bar Area and Interactivity

The water bar area boasts a large stone effect design, enhancing the overall atmosphere while adding a rhythmic visual element. Wall lights with adjustable angles increase space interactivity, and a specially designed coffee table contributes to the unified nature of the space.

Through innovative spatial design and thoughtful integration of brand elements, Shire Space Research successfully transformed Pinchu’s studio office into a dynamic and functional workspace that fosters creativity and collaboration among its users.
